The Ventura County Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program recognizes the value of diversity, inclusion and equity. We believe in fostering an environment that empowers residents of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, religions, socioeconomic statuses, ages and life experiences to thrive. We commit ourselves to addressing systemic racism, individual biases and other barriers in order to promote a safe and supportive environment in which all residents may realize their full potential as Family Physicians.
This statement of values was adopted by the residency program's core faculty and resident body. The residency's Racial Equity and Inclusion Committee, comprised of residents, fellows and faculty, is charged with developing programs in line with the statement and bringing a lens of inclusion to the residency's work. It allies with the Ventura County Medical System's Diversity and Inclusion committee, but with a primary focus of issues of equity and inclusion within the residency program.
