Jennifer Johnston, MD

University of New Mexico

I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico (505 por vida!).  I love my home state and completed my undergraduate and medical degrees at The University of New Mexico.

Residency at Ventura County was a dream to me and I am amazed to be living it.  My passion in medicine is advocacy.  I also have sub-interests in addiction medicine, emergency/trauma medicine, reproductive rights, rural medicine and hoping/fighting for a healthcare system that will allow people of all kinds to attain the care they need.

A rule I live by is “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle” - I am proud to be in a profession that allows me the privilege to help others fight their battles.  I am proud to be in a residency full of faculty and residents that are incredibly intelligent, kind and advocate for their patients and community.

My not-medicine life includes my husband, Rex, and our 3 large dogs (Phoebe, Lobo and Squid) that take up most of our free time.  We love to travel, hike, listen to music (Reggae is my favorite) and nap.  We recently bought a beer brewing kit and now call ourselves master brewers.
